How Copybook Club handles your data

Copybook Club is a Chinese handwriting worksheet generator for iPad and iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed locally, what information may be received if you contact us, and how Apple services such as App Store purchases or reviews may be involved.

1. Overview

Copybook Club is designed to work locally on your device. You can create Chinese handwriting worksheets, import files, recognize Chinese characters, preview worksheets, export clean A4 PDFs, and practice with Apple Pencil on iPad without creating a user account.

We do not operate a Copybook Club account system, user profile system, cloud sync service, user worksheet database, or Copybook Club server for storing your app content.

2. Information processed locally on your device

The following information may be processed or stored locally on your device as part of normal app use:

  • Chinese text that you enter or paste into the app;
  • PDF files, photos, images, or DOCX files that you choose to import;
  • recognized Chinese text created from imported files or selected photos;
  • worksheet settings, such as grid, font, character size, repeat count, pinyin, stroke order, and trace/fade style;
  • generated worksheets and saved worksheet items inside the app;
  • clean PDF worksheets that you choose to export;
  • filled Apple Pencil practice files that you choose to save;
  • local app preferences and settings;
  • local notification preferences and scheduled local reminders;
  • local free-tier usage information, such as the weekly worksheet generation counter;
  • local purchase access information, such as Pro status stored through Apple StoreKit and local app storage.

This information is not sent to Copybook Club servers. Copybook Club does not provide device-to-device sync in the current version.

3. File import and on-device recognition

Copybook Club can import Chinese text from PDFs, selected photos or images, and DOCX files. When you choose a file or photo, the app processes the selected item on your device and places recognized Chinese text into an editable text field before worksheet generation.

File recognition is performed on-device. Imported files, selected photos, DOCX documents, and recognized Chinese text are not uploaded to Copybook Club servers for recognition.

Recognition results may not always be perfect. You can review and edit the recognized text before creating a worksheet.

4. Apple Pencil practice

On iPad, you can write on generated worksheets with Apple Pencil. Your handwriting is processed locally on your device as part of the practice experience.

You can clear your handwriting and leave without saving, or you can save your filled Apple Pencil practice as a separate file. The original clean worksheet stays separate and remains available for reuse.

Apple Pencil handwriting and filled practice files are not sent to Copybook Club servers. If you export, save, share, back up, or move a file using Apple or third-party system features, those actions are controlled by your device, operating system, selected apps, and account settings.

5. Local notifications

Copybook Club may offer optional local reminders, such as practice reminders or free worksheet reset reminders. These reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.

Copybook Club does not use remote push campaigns in this version and does not collect push notification tokens through its own app systems. You can manage notification permissions in the app where available and in your iOS or iPadOS notification settings.

6. Information we do not collect

In the current version, Copybook Club does not collect the following through its own app systems:

  • user accounts, usernames, or passwords;
  • your name, age, or profile information;
  • your custom Chinese text;
  • your imported files, selected photos, DOCX documents, or recognized text;
  • your generated worksheets;
  • your Apple Pencil handwriting or saved filled practice files;
  • advertising identifiers for tracking;
  • push notification tokens;
  • email addresses inside the app, except when you choose to contact support by email;
  • third-party analytics data from SDKs such as Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar tools;
  • third-party crash-reporting data from SDKs such as Sentry or similar tools;
  • paywall or subscription analytics data from third-party SDKs such as RevenueCat, Adapty, Qonversion, Superwall, or similar tools;
  • data processed by third-party OCR or text-recognition APIs.

7. Bug reports and support emails

If you contact us by email or use the app’s “Report a Bug” option, we receive only the information you choose to send.

The “Report a Bug” option opens an email addressed to support@copybookclub.app. The message body is filled only with text that you enter manually.

Copybook Club does not automatically attach logs, device information, app version information, screenshots, screen recordings, diagnostic files, imported documents, worksheets, or Apple Pencil practice files to bug report emails. You may choose to add screenshots, screen recordings, device details, or other information yourself if you think it will help us understand the issue.

We use support emails and bug reports to understand your request, troubleshoot the issue, and respond to you.

8. App Store purchases and reviews

If Copybook Club offers paid features, subscriptions, or one-time purchases, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and Apple StoreKit / In-App Purchase system.

Copybook Club does not receive or store your payment card number or banking details. Purchase status may be checked through Apple StoreKit and stored locally in the app to unlock Pro access. Copybook Club does not use a separate server for purchase receipt validation in the current version.

The app includes a “Restore Purchases” option to help restore access using Apple’s purchase systems. Subscription management, billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled by Apple through your Apple account and App Store settings.

If the app asks you to leave a review, the review flow is handled through Apple’s standard system review prompt. Reviews are submitted to the App Store, not directly to Copybook Club.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your custom Chinese text, imported files, recognized text, generated worksheets, or Apple Pencil handwriting with third parties, because this content is not sent to Copybook Club servers.

If you contact us by email, your message may be processed by our email provider for the purpose of delivering and managing support correspondence.

Purchases, subscriptions, App Store reviews, and system review prompts are handled by Apple under Apple’s own systems and policies.

10. Data retention

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, if deletion controls are available, or until you delete the app from your device. This may include local worksheets, recognized text, app preferences, saved filled practice files, free-tier usage counters, local notification settings, and local purchase access information.

Imported files, exported PDFs, saved practice files, screenshots, recordings, or other files that you save outside the app are controlled by your device, operating system, selected apps, storage location, and account settings.

Support emails and bug reports may be kept for as long as reasonably needed to respond to your request, maintain support records, troubleshoot issues, and protect the integrity of the service.

11. Your choices

You can choose not to contact support or not to send a bug report. If you do send a report or email, please avoid including information that is not needed to understand the issue.

You can review and edit recognized text before generating a worksheet. You can choose whether to save filled Apple Pencil practice files or clear the practice layer without saving.

You can delete local app data by deleting saved worksheets or practice files where available, or by deleting the app from your device. You control where exported PDFs and saved practice files are stored or shared after export or saving.

You can manage local notification permissions in the app where available and in your iOS or iPadOS settings. You can restore purchases through the app’s “Restore Purchases” option. Subscription management and refunds are handled through your Apple account and App Store settings.

12. Children’s privacy

Copybook Club is not specifically directed to children. The app does not require user accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its own account or server systems.

If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support email or bug report, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

14. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how Copybook Club handles data, contact us at support@copybookclub.app.

Note: This policy describes the current version of Copybook Club. If future versions add accounts, sync, analytics, cloud storage, remote push campaigns, third-party OCR services, third-party purchase SDKs, external payments, or other services, this policy should be updated before or at the time those features are released.
