Full policy
How Copybook Club handles your data
Copybook Club is a Chinese handwriting worksheet generator and practice app for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains which information stays on your device, which records are synchronized through your private iCloud database, what the developer receives when you send optional anonymous story feedback or contact support, and how you can control or delete data.
Privacy foundations
Overview and responsible company
You can create Chinese handwriting worksheets, import text from supported files, extract or recognize Chinese characters, use HSK and themed Word Packs, read Bookshelf stories, export A4 PDFs, and practise with Apple Pencil without creating a separate Copybook Club account.
Worksheet generation and file processing are performed on your device. Copybook Club does not operate its own server for storing worksheet content.
When iCloud is available, Copybook Club automatically uses Apple CloudKit to synchronize saved worksheet records and learning progress through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple ID. The app continues to work locally when iCloud is unavailable.
Copybook Club is provided by PM EXPERT COMPAMY DOO, Vuka Karadžića br. 5, 81000 Podgorica, Montenegro (“we”, “us”, or the “developer”). We are responsible for the Copybook Club data practices described in this policy.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the app features you request and perform our agreement with you; to pursue our legitimate interests in answering support requests, maintaining reasonable support records, protecting the app and support process, and preventing abuse; and to comply with legal obligations. Where processing depends on consent or a system permission, you may withdraw that permission through the relevant app or device settings.
Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use, the following information may be processed or stored locally:
- Chinese text that you enter, paste, select, or edit;
- PDFs, photos, images, and DOCX files that you choose to import;
- Chinese text extracted or recognized from imported files or selected images;
- selected Word Packs or Bookshelf words, pinyin, translations, and related worksheet options;
- worksheet settings, including mode, grid, font, character size, repeat count, pinyin, translation, stroke order, and trace or fade settings;
- generated and saved worksheets;
- Apple Pencil handwriting and saved filled practice;
- app preferences, notification settings, learning progress, usage counters, and purchase-access information.
Some of this information is also synchronized through your private iCloud database when iCloud is available, as described in Section 3.
Private iCloud and CloudKit synchronization
Copybook Club uses Apple CloudKit and the private database associated with your iCloud account. Synchronization is enabled automatically when you are signed in to iCloud and the required iCloud services are available. The app does not provide a separate synchronization switch.
Copybook Club does not create a separate account for this feature and does not use CloudKit to request or receive your Apple ID, name, or email address.
Synchronized worksheet records may include:
- worksheet text, characters, words, or selected Word Pack content;
- worksheet mode and settings, including grid, pinyin, translation, font, and layout options;
- the worksheet creation date;
- a complete PDF containing Apple Pencil handwriting, when filled practice has been saved.
For a worksheet without saved handwriting, CloudKit stores the worksheet content and settings needed for the app to recreate the worksheet on another device. A clean exported PDF is not uploaded merely because you exported it.
When filled Apple Pencil practice is saved, the synchronized worksheet record may include the complete PDF containing the handwriting.
If you erase and draw again on an existing synchronized worksheet, the newly saved drawing is also synchronized. Copybook Club uses the latest saved drawing version across your synchronized devices.
Other worksheet content, such as its text and settings, cannot be edited in the app after the worksheet is created. Therefore, after creation, saved Apple Pencil handwriting is the worksheet content that may subsequently change and be synchronized again.
Synchronized records remain in the private iCloud area associated with your Apple ID. Copybook Club does not retrieve their contents into developer-controlled systems, does not copy them to Copybook Club servers, and does not use them for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, iCloud is turned off for Copybook Club, the network is unavailable, or the service is temporarily inaccessible, Copybook Club continues to work locally without losing its main functionality. Synchronization resumes automatically when iCloud becomes available again.
Apple provides and operates the iCloud and CloudKit infrastructure. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own terms, privacy policy, security practices, account settings, and storage controls.
Worksheets & files
File import and on-device processing
Copybook Club can extract or recognize Chinese text from PDFs, selected photos or images, and DOCX files. When you select an item, the app processes it on your device and places the resulting Chinese text into an editable field.
Imported source files are not uploaded to Copybook Club servers for processing. Copybook Club does not use a third-party OCR service for this feature.
Text extracted from an imported file may later form part of a worksheet record that you save and synchronize through CloudKit. The original imported PDF, photo, image, or DOCX file is not synchronized as part of the worksheet merely because you imported it.
Extraction or recognition results may contain errors. You can review and edit the resulting text before creating a worksheet.
Word Packs, Bookshelf, pinyin, and translations
Copybook Club includes built-in HSK and themed Word Packs. Word Pack content, pinyin, translations, selected words, and related worksheet settings are processed as part of worksheet creation.
Built-in translations do not use an external translation API. Selecting a Word Pack or enabling a translation does not send your activity to a Copybook Club content server.
Bookshelf stories and their built-in language content are provided within the app. Story choices, selected words, pinyin, and translations are processed on your device as you read and prepare worksheet content.
Choosing a story path or selecting a word does not by itself send that activity to the developer. Optional story-format feedback is a separate feature described in Section 11.
When you save a Word Pack worksheet, its selected words, pinyin, translations, and worksheet settings may form part of the worksheet record stored in your private iCloud database.
PDF generation and export
Copybook Club generates A4 PDF worksheets on your device. A PDF may include selected worksheet formatting, fonts, pinyin, translations, stroke order, tracing, fading, and a watermark where applicable.
After export, you choose where to save, print, share, back up, or move the PDF using Apple system features or another app. Files placed outside Copybook Club are controlled by the destination, your device settings, and any storage or sharing service you select.
Exporting a clean worksheet PDF does not automatically add that exported file to CloudKit. CloudKit worksheet synchronization is described in Section 3.
Apple Pencil practice
On iPad, you can write on a generated worksheet using Apple Pencil. Your handwriting is processed on your device.
You can clear the practice layer without saving it, or save filled practice as part of the worksheet. The original clean worksheet remains separate and can be used again.
When filled practice is saved, the synchronized CloudKit record may include a complete PDF containing your handwriting. Copybook Club does not upload this PDF to its own server.
If you later erase the handwriting, draw again, and save the worksheet, the newly saved version is synchronized and becomes the latest saved drawing used across your devices.
If you separately export or share a filled worksheet, the resulting file is handled by the destination and system service you select.
Progress & device
Learning progress and reward data
Copybook Club records information needed to provide Daily Streak, Ink Drops, levels, sticker rewards, worksheet reward limits, and related progress features.
Progress records synchronized through your private iCloud database may include:
- the type of an eligible app activity and its date and time;
- the time zone associated with the activity;
- Ink Drop awards, including award type, amount, and date;
- unlocked level numbers and unlock dates;
- unlocked sticker identifiers, associated levels, and unlock dates;
- an app-specific device identifier and the app version needed to coordinate records between devices.
The app-specific device identifier is not your Apple ID and is not intended to identify you by name. Copybook Club does not use progress data for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Local notifications
Copybook Club may offer optional practice reminders and free-usage reset reminders. These are local notifications scheduled on your device.
Copybook Club does not operate remote push-notification campaigns in v1.2 and does not collect a push-notification token through its own systems.
You can manage notification permission through iOS or iPadOS settings and through controls provided in the app where available.
Collection boundaries
Information we do not collect through our own systems
Copybook Club does not operate its own account, worksheet storage, analytics, or advertising server. Through its own systems, it does not collect:
- account usernames or passwords;
- your Apple ID, name, email address, age, or profile information during normal app use;
- payment card numbers or bank details;
- advertising identifiers for tracking;
- data from third-party analytics or advertising SDKs;
- third-party crash-reporting data;
- data from third-party OCR or translation APIs;
- data from third-party subscription-management or paywall analytics SDKs.
Copybook Club does not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
This section does not mean that no information ever leaves your device. Saved worksheet and progress records may be stored in your private iCloud database, files may be sent to destinations you select, purchases are handled by Apple, optional anonymous story feedback may be submitted through CloudKit, and we receive information that you deliberately send to support.
Optional anonymous Bookshelf feedback
After a Bookshelf story, Copybook Club may invite you to answer a voluntary question about whether you liked the story format. If you choose to respond, the app sends your yes-or-no answer through Apple CloudKit so that we can evaluate the format and improve Bookshelf.
The feedback does not include your name, email address, Apple ID, worksheet content, imported files, handwriting, selected story path, collected words, or support messages. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or decisions about you.
This feedback is separate from the worksheet and progress records stored in your private iCloud database. The developer can access the submitted anonymous response in CloudKit for product-feedback purposes. Apple may process technical information needed to operate CloudKit under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
Sending feedback is optional. If you do not answer, the app and Bookshelf remain available in the same way.
Bug reports and support emails
If you contact us by email or use the app’s Report a Bug option, we receive the information you choose to include.
The Report a Bug option opens an email addressed to support@copybookclub.app . The message body contains text that you enter.
Copybook Club does not automatically attach your worksheets, imported documents, handwriting, screenshots, recordings, diagnostic files, or recognized text to the email. You may choose to add relevant information yourself.
We use support correspondence to understand and answer your request, investigate problems, maintain reasonable support records, and protect the integrity of the app and support process.
Apple & external services
App Store purchases and reviews
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.
Copybook Club does not receive or store your payment card number or bank details. StoreKit provides the information needed for the app to determine whether Pro access is available and to restore eligible purchases.
Billing, renewals, cancellation, purchase history, and refund requests are managed through your Apple account and Apple’s App Store systems.
If Copybook Club displays Apple’s standard review request, any review you submit is sent to the App Store and is governed by Apple’s systems and policies.
Data sharing and external services
We do not sell personal data and do not use worksheet content or learning progress for advertising.
Information may be processed by another service in the following situations:
- Apple provides CloudKit and iCloud storage for synchronized worksheet and progress records;
- Apple provides CloudKit infrastructure for optional anonymous Bookshelf feedback;
- Apple processes App Store purchases, subscriptions, restores, refunds, and reviews;
- your email provider and our email provider process support correspondence;
- an app, printer, cloud-storage provider, or recipient you select processes a file that you export or share.
Those services process information under their own terms, privacy policies, and account settings. Depending on your location and the services involved, information you send to support may be processed in Montenegro or other countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use the safeguards required by that law.
Control & rights
Worksheet deletion and data retention
When you delete a worksheet, it is immediately hidden on the device where the deletion was made. If the worksheet contains saved Apple Pencil handwriting, the local drawing file is permanently erased from that device at that time.
Copybook Club creates a small deletion marker so that other devices signed in to the same Apple ID can also stop displaying the worksheet.
A deletion marker may contain the worksheet identifier, deletion date, and an app-specific device identifier. It does not contain the worksheet text, settings, PDF, or handwriting.
The original worksheet record already stored in your private iCloud database is not physically erased when you delete the worksheet in the app. It becomes inactive and stops appearing across synchronized devices, but it continues to remain in your private iCloud storage.
Deletion markers and inactive worksheet records are not removed automatically. Retaining these records allows a device that synchronizes later to reliably learn that the worksheet was deleted and must remain hidden.
Copybook Club does not retrieve these private iCloud records into developer-controlled systems, does not copy them to its own servers, and does not provide an in-app control for permanently erasing them from CloudKit.
To permanently remove Copybook Club’s synchronized worksheet and progress data from iCloud, use Apple’s system iCloud storage management controls. Apple explains that third-party app data can be viewed and deleted through iCloud storage management . The precise menu wording may depend on your device and operating system version.
Deleting Copybook Club from a device does not by itself delete its synchronized data from iCloud. That data remains in your private iCloud storage until you remove it through Apple’s iCloud storage management controls.
Files that you exported, shared, printed, or saved outside Copybook Club are not deleted when you delete a worksheet inside the app. You must manage those copies in the app, folder, cloud service, recipient account, or physical location where you placed them.
Support emails are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer a request, investigate an issue, maintain appropriate support records, protect the support process, or meet legal obligations. The period depends on the nature of the request and any continuing legal or security need.
Anonymous Bookshelf feedback is retained only for as long as reasonably needed to evaluate the story format and maintain reliable feedback records. Because the response is not linked to an account or direct identifier, we generally cannot identify or delete one person’s response on request.
Your choices and privacy rights
You decide which text, files, and photos to import; which extracted or recognized text to keep or edit; which worksheet options to use; whether to save Apple Pencil practice; and where to send exported files.
You can delete worksheets through the controls provided in the app. The effect of worksheet deletion on local and synchronized data is described in Section 15.
Copybook Club does not provide a separate in-app synchronization switch. You can manage iCloud for Copybook Club and remove the app’s synchronized data through Apple’s system iCloud settings. When iCloud is unavailable, the app continues to work locally. Synchronization resumes automatically when iCloud becomes available again.
You can manage notification permission in iOS or iPadOS, restore eligible purchases through the app, and manage subscriptions through your Apple account.
Depending on the law that applies where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of personal information; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.
These rights are most directly relevant to identifiable information the developer actually receives, such as support correspondence. Anonymous Bookshelf feedback is not linked to an account or direct identifier, so we generally cannot associate an individual response with you. Copybook Club cannot retrieve worksheet or progress contents that remain only on your device or in your private iCloud database. Use the in-app and Apple system controls described above to manage that information.
To make a privacy request about information we hold, email support@copybookclub.app . We may need enough information to understand the request and reasonably verify that it relates to you. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
You can choose not to contact support. When contacting us, avoid including information that is not needed to understand your request.
Children’s privacy
Copybook Club is not specifically directed to children. It does not require a Copybook Club account and does not knowingly collect personal profile information from children through an account, analytics, or advertising system.
If you believe a child has sent personal information to us through a support email or bug report, contact us so we can review the message and delete the information where appropriate.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when Copybook Club changes or when clarification is needed. When the policy changes, the Last updated date at the top of the page will be revised.
Material changes relating to accounts, analytics, advertising, external processing, cloud storage, remote notifications, or other significant data practices will be reflected in this policy when those practices are introduced.
