Worksheets & import

Can I import files into Copybook Club?

Yes. You can import Chinese text from photos, PDFs, and DOCX files. Copybook Club recognizes supported Chinese characters and places the result in an editable text field before you create the worksheet.

What should I do if text recognition is inaccurate?

Try a sharper image or cleaner document with readable Chinese text, good lighting, and less blur. Always review and edit the recognized text before generating your worksheet.

Does Copybook Club show stroke order?

Yes. In supported worksheet modes, stroke-order cells can appear before the practice rows. Free includes stroke order for the first three characters in a worksheet, while Pro unlocks it for the full worksheet. These cells are a visual guide; Copybook Club does not grade handwriting on PDF worksheets.

Word Packs & Bookshelf

How do I switch between HSK 2.0 and HSK 3.0?

Use the HSK 2.0 / HSK 3.0 switch in Word Packs before choosing a level. Each standard has its own complete HSK 1–5 vocabulary lists, so the words shown in a level change when you switch versions.

How do Word Pack rows and translations work?

Words stay together in Word Pack practice rows instead of being split into individual characters. You can also show a translation with the row; its position adjusts to the selected pinyin setting.

Which Word Packs are new in v1.3?

Version 1.3 adds the free Zodiac & Horoscopes and Travel Like a Local packs, plus the Pro Idols & Music pack.

What can I do in Bookshelf?

Bookshelf includes two free interactive Chinese stories: Office Help and Four Cities Over Coffee. Read scene by scene, tap a word to see its pinyin and translation, open cultural notes where available, make choices that affect the ending, and collect useful words for handwriting practice.

How do I practice words collected from a story?

Add words to your basket while reading, then use the basket to create a temporary custom word set. Copybook Club takes you to the worksheet settings, where you can adjust the page before generating your practice sheet.

How do story endings and rewards work?

Office Help has four endings, while Four Cities Over Coffee has eight. The first time you discover an ending, you receive 30 Ink Drops and unlock its collectible sticker on the Stories page of the Sticker Notebook.

What is sent with optional story feedback?

If you choose to answer the optional yes-or-no question shown after a story, Copybook Club sends the story identifier, your response, the app version, the app-interface language, and CloudKit’s record-creation date. It does not add your name, email address, Apple ID, device ID, advertising ID, free text, worksheet content, handwriting, selected story path, collected words, or support messages.

Ink Rush

What is Ink Rush?

Ink Rush is a fast handwriting memory mode built around 60-second rounds. Write one hanzi at a time with your finger on iPhone or with your finger or Apple Pencil on iPad. Stroke order and direction are checked automatically, and each timed round starts with three lives.

How does Today’s 5 work?

Today’s 5 is a set of five words selected for your current progress. Their characters appear first in the round until all five word slots are closed. If any remain after your timed rounds, use Finish Today’s 5 to complete them without a timer or lives.

What happens when I make a mistake?

The first and second mistakes in a row on the same stroke do not cost a life. After the second, Ink Rush shows the starting point and direction. A third consecutive mistake costs one life and reveals the answer. Tapping Don’t remember also costs one life and shows the character.

Why do I see a Quick Check?

Quick Check is a short, one-time calibration shown when you first open Ink Rush. A few sample tasks help the app choose a suitable starting difficulty. It is not an exam, and you can skip it.

How many Ink Rush rounds can I play?

Free includes two timed rounds per day. Pro removes the daily round limit. The first two Free rounds can award Ink Drops; Pro adds a third rewarded round each day. Finish Today’s 5 is untimed and does not count as a rewarded round.

Can I change the words used in Ink Rush?

Yes. Open Learning sources in Ink Rush to choose HSK 2.0 or HSK 3.0 levels 1–5 and include or exclude Word Packs. Only one HSK standard is active at a time. Disabling a source excludes it from new-character selection, but characters already in your memory remain there. Source choices are stored on the current device and do not sync through iCloud.

Practice & progress

Can I practice with Apple Pencil?

Yes. Apple Pencil practice is available on iPad for worksheets you create in the app. On iPhone, you can create, import, preview, and export worksheets, and use your finger to write in Ink Rush.

Can I save my handwriting without changing the clean worksheet?

Yes. Your filled Apple Pencil practice can be saved separately, while the original clean worksheet remains available for another practice session.

How does the Daily Streak work?

Open Copybook Club each day to continue your streak. The app keeps your current and longest streak. This version does not include a streak freeze.

How do I earn Ink Drops?

You receive 5 Ink Drops for the first app open of the day and 20 Ink Drops for each of the first three worksheets you create that day. A first-time story ending awards 30 Ink Drops. Ink Rush awards 1 Ink Drop for each successfully completed position in a rewarded round, and correct Quick Check answers can award a one-time welcome bonus. Ink Drops count toward level progress; they are not a spendable currency.

Where do I find my reward stickers?

The Sticker Notebook has separate pages for Levels and Stories. Levels 1–20 each have their own sticker, while story stickers unlock when you discover the corresponding endings. Level 0 has no sticker.

iCloud & Pro

What does Copybook Club sync through iCloud?

Copybook Club syncs worksheet records through your private iCloud, including the data and settings needed to restore and recreate each clean worksheet. It also syncs saved filled PDFs from Apple Pencil practice, Ink Drops and reward progress, current and longest streak, current level, unlocked level and story stickers, and Ink Rush memory events, round sessions, and Today’s 5 sets.

Why can’t I see a generated worksheet on my other device?

First, make sure both devices use the same Apple ID, iCloud is enabled and available for Copybook Club, and both devices have an internet connection. Copybook Club syncs the worksheet record used to restore and recreate a clean worksheet, not every exported file. A clean PDF you export is not uploaded automatically as a separate iCloud file. A filled PDF saved from Apple Pencil practice does sync. Current mode, worksheet settings, and Ink Rush source choices do not sync between devices.

Why does my PDF say “Made by Copybook Club”?

Every exported worksheet includes a small Made by Copybook Club signature near the page edge. It is a creator credit, not a watermark, and it does not cover the worksheet content. The same small signature appears on both Free and Pro exports.

What is included with Free, and what does Pro unlock?

Free includes three worksheet generations per week, up to two pages per worksheet, the standard cell size, up to three practice lines per character, selected fonts and Apple Pencil palettes, free Word Packs, both current Bookshelf stories, two Ink Rush rounds per day, Apple Pencil worksheet practice on iPad, and PDF export. Pro unlocks unlimited worksheet generation, longer worksheets, more cell sizes and repetitions, premium fonts and palettes, Pro Word Packs, unlimited Ink Rush rounds, and a third rewarded Ink Rush round each day.

Can I preview Pro fonts before purchase?

Yes. You can preview Pro handwriting fonts in the app before unlocking Pro.

How do I restore Pro?

Use Restore Purchases in the app and make sure your device is signed in with the Apple ID used for the original purchase.

App basics

Can I use Copybook Club offline?

Core worksheet creation and preview happen on your device. Features such as iCloud sync, purchase restoration, and sending optional story feedback need the relevant Apple services and may require an internet connection.

Which languages and Chinese writing system are supported?

The app interface is available in English, Russian, and Spanish. Copybook Club currently focuses on simplified Chinese handwriting worksheets.

What paper size does the app export?

Copybook Club exports A4 PDF worksheets that you can save, share, or print.

Are reminders sent from a server?

No. Practice reminders and Free Worksheet Reset reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Copybook Club does not use remote push campaigns for them.

I found a localization issue. What should I do?

Email us a screenshot and a short note explaining where the text appears. Reports help us correct remaining English, Russian, or Spanish localization issues.
